👋 Hi, I’m Nate.

I have been a computer enthusiast and tinkerer for as long as I can remember. Since first getting my hands on a Packard Bell Legend and Windows 3.1 in the 90’s, I was enthralled. Understanding how computers and networks worked became a primary interest throughout my adolescence, teaching myself as much as I could and learning by doing. This passion led to a ~18 year career in corportate technology and startups, spanning systems administration, networking, security and risk analysis, data management, and software development.

A drive and desire for more purpose-driven work led me to starting Mundane Data LLC, a passion project and solo operation based in Northern Colorado, offering technology support and services directly to individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits in my local community.

This blog is an extension of my company, but also a place where I hope to help others learn, overcome challenges, spark interest, and maybe to find joy in the mundane - devices and technology we use every day.

Here, I will be covering a wide range of topics, including basic computer usage and tips, interesting projects and use cases, security and data privacy, open source software and development, and data analysis. Recuring series will include:

  • Public Data Set Analysis - Performing light analysis on publicaly available data sets focussed on learning and exploration
  • Staying Safe Online - Software settings, tools, awareness, and best practices to protect yourself, your data, and your devices
  • Tech Tips - Insights, settings, and tools to help your devices run effeciently and offer a consistent, smooth, and safe experience.
  • Things You Can Do - Interesting use cases and STEM projects; DIY guides

Thank you for your time and for reading. I hope you find the posts here helpful or otherwise informative. Of course, feel free to reach out if I can be of help, if you have questions, or just to say hello!
